How it Works

An overview of CBD and the body

Dr. Mechoulam, a leading scientist known for his discovery of the endocannabinoid system, has forever changed the world of holistic healing. He has lead the way in the research of a human’s two main cannabinoid receptors, CB1 and CB2 within the endocannabinoid system.

The endocannabinoid system contains cannabinoids naturally produced in our bodies. Yes, our bodies produce Phyto cannabinoids (plant-based) like CBD similar to cannabis plants. CB1 receptors are found throughout the body, mostly present in the brain and spinal cord (nerve endings). Which explains why they act to reduce sensations of pain. CB2 receptors tend to be found in the peripheral nervous system and immune system.

The CB1 and CB2 receptors in our body act as message receivers. They are waiting for you to supply your body with compounds from the plant. Once your body receives these compounds your receptors will act as messengers to transport these compounds to parts of your body in need of assistance.

Naturally high in CBD

CBD is not psycho-active

Naturally low in CBD

Contains about 5-10% psycho-active compounds

Is psycho-active

There are several ways to provide your body with cannabis compounds. One that is used often is topical treatment. CB2 receptors respond well with CBD. Higher Peaks uses CBD isolate in our products which removes any psycho-active compounds. This removes any doubt for those who are subject to drug tests by their employers or contractors.

Our products work with the body’s own immune system (CB2 receptors) to allow better blood flow (healing properties) to the injured area. Opioids, on the other hand, relieve pain by attaching to receptors in the brain. Once attached, they send signals to the brain of the “opioid effect” which BLOCKS the pain and must be taken again (and again) to work effectively. We all know the addictive properties of opioids. Our country is in the middle of a national crisis. We provide a holistic, natural way to relieve pain without all the downsides of opioids.

Benefits of CBD

Pain Relief

Suppression of Spasms

Psoriasis and Other Skin Conditions

Inhibits Growth of Cancer Cells

Skin is the largest organ in our bodies. Methods of topical use have clear advantages over oral medications. As science continues to study absorption rates of specific nutrients we know for sure that our skin really does absorb.

The success of any formulation relies heavily on the user’s regiment. Because the stratum corneum is continually shedding itself, lotion must be reapplied. Three to four times per day should be sufficient. For dryer skin and dryer climates, you may have to reapply more often.

  • Increase the frequency of applications.
  • Increase your body temperature.
  • Sauna’s help bodies drink up ingredients.
  • Apply lotion at night – our basal body temperature is elevated at night.
  • Volume – proudly apply with increased amount of lotion.
  • A well-balanced diet including amino acids is important so that your body can synthesize protein. Collagen, elastin and fibrinogen are the structural components that keep your skin supple and they are all proteins.
  • Well hydrated skin, drink lots of water
